Review: Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I'm finally back!! Thank you guys so much for your patience with me getting my Macbook problems sorted out. Now for the good stuff; this may seem dramatic, but this is 100% THE best foundation that I have ever used. My skin is acne prone, sensitive, and dry. It is a hot damn mess, honestly, but that’s a post for another day! I’m constantly on the hunt for a new foundation. I’m always looking for the best of the best for my skin type. I have tried dozens of foundations. Some of them I loved, some I loathed, and then there was this. I always wondered if it was actually worth the hype. $62 dollars for foundation seems so absolutely outrageous to me. . .still after all this time it is outrageous to me, but depending on your skin type this foundation is magical.

I have redness and mild scarring on my cheeks from acne. It’s safe to say that there are very few foundations that I have tried that don’t break me out. I was contemplating if I should try this after reading reviews about how it is great for people with dry skin. I went to Sephora, matched my tone (I wear a 3.5) and asked for a sample. After one day I knew I had fallen in love. You know that saying champagne taste on a beer budget? Well honey, that saying could not be more true when it comes to my love for this foundation.

It’s described on Sephora’s website like so, “this award-winning foundation is formulated with micro-fil technology, producing a low-density product that pairs high-impact pigments with weightless texture. Inspired by the silk shantung worn by kings and emperors, this foundation glides seamlessly onto the skin leaving a finish that’s reminiscent of charmeuse silk.” <- Like okay, if that doesn’t intrigue you to at least sample this foundation I’m not sure what will.

I swear by this stuff. Truly, and honestly. I am so extremely dry that almost every “dewy” foundation that I try clings to my dry spots. This is the only foundation I’ve tried that does the opposite. I feel like some how it hydrates my face without making me look wet. The next time you go to the Sephora near you, do yourself a favor and ask for a sample.

COLOURPOP HAUL + REVIEW!

I’ve been seeing ColourPop blow up all over the place this year, so about 5 months ago I decided to order a few products just to see if it was worth all the hype! Well, it turns out I ended up LOVING their products. I initially ordered only a few things to sample the color payoff and quality. I’m always a little sketched out to make a big order for my first try, especially on products with such an amazing price point. Most of their products are all under $10, which for great quality is hard to find. I was seriously blown away by the color payoff!! That to me is most important because I don’t really mind re-applying every couple hours, but I barely had to do that. Here is my most recent haul, I’m actually addicted to their products now so I can’t wait to order more!

These are absolutely without a doubt, the best affordable matte liquid lipsticks I’ve ever tried. They’re super matte so if you like a liquid lipstick that dries completely down these are for you! While I always top mine off with a Baby Lips, the color still stays on forever. I prefer to use mine with MAC Prep + Prime lip as my base so that they don’t feel as matte as they get. The colors are seriously amazing, I love that they have a huge selection and they make color suitable for every skin tone. Another thing that’s super important for me is that I don’t find them to be streaky at all. Some liquid lipsticks don’t cover your lips with the first coat because they streak causing you to still see through to your lip. Luckily these don’t have that effect and every color I’ve tried has a smooth outcome with one layer and doesn’t streak. I ordered 7 of these Ultra Matte’s in this haul, shades below we’re swatched in natural daylight.

So these Lippie Stix are way different than the Ultra Mattes. I adore these little nuggets!! They’re so convenient to throw in your purse and I love that they’re super slim so if I want to throw it in a smaller clutch they fit in nicely. So these run in all different finishes, they have Crème, Sheer, Satin, Glossy, Matte & Pearlized. ColourPop knows the way to my heart by giving me a satin and crème lipstick that has maximum pigment which is exactly what these lippie stix are. The only complaint I have about these bad boys is that they run out faster than I wished they would, but hey for only $5 each it’s not a killer on your wallet to order two or three of your favorite shades. Also if you’re worried about using one that you like, but it’s not matte, they have a lippie primer and I noticed this actually does help the non-matte formulas stay on (you can use MAC P+P Lip Primer as well).

I love lipliners so much, and these lippie pencils are no exception. They’re creamy which I appreciate in a liner because generally a regular pencil liner pulls on my lips. They last sooo long, there isn’t a specific “hour-wear” claim on these ColourPop ones, but it seemed I only had to reapply once the whole day. I like that some of the liners have the same names as some of the lippie stix too, like Bound, Oh Snap, Tootsi etc. I wanted to give you guys some color combos too: Dazed + More Better, Tootsi + Trap, BFF + Addict, & Oh Snap + Midi/Clueless. These are just some of the ways I’ve been combining them! This swatch picture was taken with a flash because it was a little difficult in actual daylight to tell the difference between some of the shades.

I ordered this Super Shock Cheek Highlighter because Kathleen Lights raves about it. I found it super hard to apply at first, she recommended using it with a beauty blender, and when I did I found almost no product showing up on my face. Then I tried a fan brush, nothing. Finally with my trusty Morphe M501 I finally got this to show up on my cheek! It was beautiful once I actually got it on my skin. I also found that I was able to use it as a shadow color which obviously was awesome. I love any product that I can get more than one use out of.

HOkay, so I actually don’t think you guys are prepared to handle these Super Shock Shadows. I only ordered two because I hate individual shadows, I prefer a pan shadow so that I can put it in my Z Palette, but these are so worth it. This swatch literally does not even do these shadows justice. They are stunning. They are so similar to MAC’s Electric Cool line. They’re a cushion-y like formula with pieces of glitter running through the silky texture. Seriously, that’s the best way I can describe it. I didn’t notice tons of fall out when I used these but I also use a primer so be careful if you’re not priming your lids before! I definitely plan on ordering more of these ASAP. I just wish they would make more palette options, or a create your own palette option!

If you guys have any looks with these colors, tag me on instagram so I can see! @seanmarie_

**Disclaimer: I did not get paid by any of these companies to do a haul or review, and if I do get sent things you will know that it was not specifically purchased by me. All of my opinions and reviews are genuine.

MAKEOVER!

This week’s model Gina usually wears only bronzer or BB cream all over her face and mascara.  She wanted to try a more dramatic eye, but still keeping her skin fresh. She hated the idea of wearing a full coverage foundation, so I kept the skin trend of a BB cream, but applied it with the proper tools to execute a flawless makeup look without using heavy products on the skin! I love the idea of keeping the foundation lightweight but applying it in a way that perfects the look of the skin, and this is exactly what I did for Gina. All pictures were taken inside with indoor artificial light and an iPhone with flash! Products listed below my loves :)

Skin-
Concealer: Urban Decay Naked Skin shade Light Neutral & LA Girl Pro Concealer shade Creamy Beige (used damp beauty blender to apply), set with Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder.

Cheeks-

Highlight: Laura Geller Gilded Honey (fyi: HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS NEED THIS)

It’s been a while since I’ve done my monthly favorites! I always make a list to write a post and when I go to write it I realize I’m half way through the next month. #RetailProbz But, without further adue, here are the products that I have been LOVING and used religiously throughout September.

Beauty:

Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip - Midi

Normally I stay away from liquid lipsticks because the amount of dryness it creates is just overwhelming. I ordered a huuge Colourpop haul (blog post on it coming soon!) and this was the first color in this formula that I tried. It is so beautiful and the perfect nude shade for fall, it had just enough mauve without being too Kylie Jenner pinkish. Unfortunately for me it does dry completely matte, but if you’re into that sort of thing then you’ll love it. I prefer a lipstick to have a mored satin finish so when I use this I’ll top it off with a sheer Baby Lips or chapstick just to make sure I’m not totally dry, but still a little matte. Not to mention these babies are a steal at only $6 a pop.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator - So Hollywood

As if I needed another highlighter! I’m in love with pretty much everything Anastasia puts out so naturally as soon as this bad boy released I knew I had to get my hands on it. How could you not like this? It’s so beautiful and has a crazy amount of pigment! I was so impressed when I first tried it, I knew that it would easily be in my top 5 as far as highlighters are concerned. This thing shines!! Y’all know I like to glow like the moon so clearly I became addicted to this. Tip: I love to use this with a Morphe M501 brush, it disperses a great amount of product and blends it in near perfectly.

Lilly Lashes - Tehran, Istanbul, & Paris

images courtesy of lillylashes.com
Okay, real talk: lashes are my #1 desert island product, you best believe I’m bringing my stash of lashes with me. I’m allergic to most mascaras on my top lids (but I can wear it on my bottom, stupid and weird, trust me I know) so lashes are my ultimate holy grail right up there with foundation. These human hair Lilly Lashes impressed me tenfold. I knew Lilly Ghalichi was always slammed out to the nines so I figured that I would give her lashes a try. With my first purchase I got these 3 styles: Tehran (glamorous), Paris (long wispy), & Istanbul (short wispy).

Sally Hansen Hard as Nails - Shade 160 ‘Hard-core Party’

I’m such a sucker for a light pink nail color. My collection of nail polish is ever growing, at about 110 colors with a solid number of those colors being light pink or pale peach. I’m so predictable with my color choices! I may have tons, yet I’m always looking for a new light pink! My boyfriend actually got this for me because he saw me looking at it online (like okay, how sweet was that)?! I was actually a tad disappointed by this color at first because when I had first gotten them done it didn’t look pink but more so nude. As I wore it this color grew on me so fast. It’s not sheer or opaque, but somewhere in the middle. I have acrylic tips on my nails and this was the shade with and without flash.

Skin Care:
Mario Badescu Dryling Lotion

I had heard about this product through one of Desi Perkins’s snapchats and I was so tempted to try it since I felt like I had been seeing it everywhere. I had pretty much forgotten about it until I was at Blue Mercury buying a Diptyque candle, yes, another one, and this little baby caught my eye. It had cute packaging in a glass bottle and I’m once again, such a sucker for packaging. I was however a bit skeptical when I first purchased this because it’s such a weird concept. You take a q-tip, dip it into the mixture of salicylic acid and calamine and apply it to new or worsening breakouts. Making sure that you don’t shake the bottle is key because it is not meant to be mixed. Make sure that you strictly spot treat with this, do not put it all over. How I have been using it has been after I’ve washed my face, applied my serum/oil and moisturizer I’ll wait about 15 minutes and then spot treat with this. I’ve noticed a big difference on breakouts that are brand new, like those pimples that are super painful when they first appear. It definitely stops the pimple from getting out of control. It’s perfect for me because unfortunately, I’m the type of person that always has at least one breakout on my face. I did notice though that if I use it more than two nights in a row I get dry patches. I’m a normal-dry skin type so just be very careful with this product if you have dry skin!

Korres Black Pine Active Firming Sleeping Oil
Well that’s a mouthful! I was browsing through Sephora one day with my sister Kelsey & we were on a serious with hunt for new skin care. A woman helped us and she was EASILY the most helpful person who has ever helped me with skincare at Sephora. She was seriously so informing about this product before I ever purchased it. She gave me a sample to take home and try this before I made the decision to purchase it. Let me tell you, if you are looking for a new nighttime oil you MUST try this product. Sephora gave me a pretty rad amount in my sample jar, it lasted me 3 weeks! After consistent use for those 3 weeks, I knew I had to purchase this. I noticed a significant difference in the redness and severity of my scars on my cheeks after using this. It really has helped calm my skin, and it feels amazing after a long day of wearing makeup to finally wash my face and put on this oil. I seriously get excited to wash my face just so I can put this stuff on. I’m a skincare junkie and I’m always looking for the latest and greatest so if you guys have anything you want me to try let me know!

10 Essential Fall Booties For $100 Or Less

I went through hundreds of booties to find these 10 essentials that I'm loving for this season!

These navy heeled booties from Sole Society are EVERYTHING to me right now. Navy is such a hot color and is absolutely a neutral you need in your collection. Some people are scared navy looks too much like denim but it’s all about finding the right pair of color and texture to differentiate.

The distressed look of these booties are perfect for this season. The ribbed texture on the back of these is a gorgeous added touch as well. I prefer them in the color pictured (Stone Nubuck) but they also come in black as well. These are perfect for a fall day with an over sized poncho and some leggings!

These black booties are essential for any shoe collection. They’re simple with a twist of edge thanks to the zipper detail along the back side of the heel. The cut of these are perfect to slip a pair of skinny jeans into because they hit right above the ankle.

It’s actually hard for me to contain my excitement about how stunning these shoes are. I love everything about them. The gold heel is giving me such life, plus only 40 bucks? Hello, need.

This color!! Anything beige pretty much is my immediate first choice in any scenario and these are no exception. How perfect and simple are these?

Ommmmmg. <- Okay, that was sort of unnecessary, but I had to. I couldn’t believe how much I was loving all of H&M’s fall booties. The mix in texture on these deserves a praise hands emoji, like honestly.

I’m pretty sure River Island just gets me. These shoes are vital! I’m in love with the tassel on the zipper up the side!

Not sure if these could be any more beautiful. These booties are absolute stunners. Plus the heel is only 8cm so comfort comes with beauty!

Olive green is always a yes, whether it’s fall or not. Luckily, these aren’t just amazingly cute, they’re also on sale for $69.

Fringe is always a yes for me. Obviously use it sparingly, but a pop of fringe is not only perfect for fall but super in trend right now.

FALL MAKEUP HAUL! + Reviews

Beauty:

Anastasia Beverly Hills Waterproof Créme Color-Ice Blue
FINALLY. Ever since I saw Jaclyn Hill use this on her waterline I knew it had to be mine. After waiting several weeks for this to come back in stock I finally got my hands on it! This color is SO beyond gorgeous. I normally don’t choose blue colored anything, but this looks stunning against my blue eyes. I’ve used it as a gel liner for cat eyes and in my waterline! Let me be the first to tell you this thing really is waterproof. ABH knows what she’s doing and I’ve never been let down by one of her products yet!
Here it is swatched in daylight

Anastasia Beverly Hills Single Eyeshadow-Soft Peach
I bought this shadow solely because I am in love with Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie shadow and online this shadow looked to be pretty close. I was a little disappointed because this is actually a couple shades lighter than Peach Smoothie, but it is still fairly nice. If you’ve never tried any ABH shadows then you need to get on it ASAP. They have very little fall out, if any and they’re greatly pigmented. Also, her website provides a pro discount when you give the right credentials which, HELLO, of course I love! Everything on the site is not discounted, but I’m pretty happy with what is (the single shadows are)!!
Peach Smoothie & Soft Peach Compared in daylight

BH Cosmetics Waterproof Lip Liners
I was super shocked at the quality of these liners. I’ve purchased many things from BH before and always liked them, so I figured why not give these a shot. They’re nice and creamy which I prefer for a lip liner rather than a regular pencil formula. They glide on fairly easily and actually are waterproof! The shades I purchased were Earth (warm brown) and Brazen (bright purple). If you love Heroine lipstick by MAC but don’t want to spend $16.50 on a liner then Brazen is your color! It’s a smidge darker than Heroine but goes lovely with it!

BH Pop Art Lippies in daylight
BH Cosmetics Pop Art Lipsticks
Holy bikini Batman!! Dude, the pigment in these lipsticks. . .unreal!! They are frickin beautiful. The colors are pretty limited but they remind me of Macron lippies! Pastelish and in your face bright. I love the size of these as well, they are mini sized! For only being $5 I was assuming I  was not getting a full sized lipstick, welp, I was wrong. Each tube has 4g/.014oz of lipstick so don’t be fooled by its pocket-sized demeanor. A main problem I have with them is the color selection, there aren’t any nudes!! Y’all know a girl loves a good nude lip. I guess because they’re called ‘Pop Art’ lipsticks I should realize that they’re supposed to be bright and I should chill with always wanting a selection of nudes but hey, you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

MAC Vamplify Lip Gloss
I was under the impression that these would be a gloss but in reality it truly comes out like a liquid lipstick. The only difference between this and an actual liquid lipstick is that is does not dry matte, but to more a Cremesheen finish (if you are a MAC lipstick junkie you’ll know what that means). I think I prefer these because they don’t leave a harsh ring around your inner lips that matte liquid lipsticks give you. The color selection is beautiful too, anywhere from nude to bright purple! The colors I purchased were Spanking Haute and Tuned In. If you’re wondering what MAC liners to pair each of them with, Boldly Bare is a perfect fit for Spanking Haute and Absolutely It is for Tuned In.
This picture was taken with ONE swipe of the gloss!
Vamplify Glosses swatched in daylight

Eylure + Vegas Nay Lashes-Grand Glamor
You don’t truly see how beautiful these lashes are until you have them on. It’s hard to believe they could get prettier than they look in the packaging, and then you apply them. They are double stacked so getting them on for the first time is a bit of a challenge (as it is with any double stacked lashes), but then once they’re on any extra work is so worth it. I did notice that the second time I wore these they fitted to my eye much nicer so that’s definitely a plus! I went bananas when I saw these were back in stock and bought 4 pairs, now after wearing them I’m wishing I had bought 10. If you want to see a picture of them on my eye head over to my instagram @seanmarie_

Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Moisturizer
In high school I used the original Hope in a Jar but I’m always trying to find the latest and greatest when it comes to moisturizers, so I switched after about two jars. Now I’m sort of sad I ever switched! I’ve only been using this new one for about 2 weeks so who knows, maybe I’ll get bored and switch again but as of today, I am loving this. It’s a perfect daytime moisturizer because it’s not super thick. I don’t look or feel greasy after applying it. As of now I’m using it as my daytime and nighttime moisturizer because when I buy something new I’m like a little kid and want to use it all the time! I have some red acne scarring on my cheeks and I haven’t noticed any difference with using this yet, but like I previously stated it’s only been about 2 weeks; so we’ll see how this goes the longer I use it!

Fashion:

Quay Australia Sunglasses-Style ‘Kitti’’
I am so cheap when it comes to sunglasses you guys. I love the idea of owning super expensive sunglasses but I know for a fact that I’m not up for the responsibility. I’m the girl that somehow always smudges, scratches, or breaks her sunglasses. No fail, every time. Luckily, these have been holding up greatly for the price. I believe I paid $46 for them and for the price, the quality is beautiful. They look like super expensive glasses. The plastic is sturdy and the UV blockage is pretty sufficient, and well, they’re pretttttttty!

Miscellaneous:

Diptyque Paris Candles-‘Roses’ & ’Santal’
If you have never heard of Diptyque before I’m happy I get to be the first to tell you about them! So these have sort of a cult following in the beauty world. The main reason for this is simply because they’re absolutely beautiful to look that. The packaging is enticing and the candles have such an amazingly pure scent. The two that I got were Roses which is obviously rose scented, and Santal which is Sandalwood. With all of these perks, there unfortunately must be a down side; these candles are pricy. The 6.5 oz candles (Santal) retail for $60 each, while the 2.4 oz candles are $30. For me, they’re worth it because when I’m finished with my candles, I clean the jar out and use them for brush holders etc. I understand that not every one wants to spend that much money on a candle, which is totally validated, but something to think about is that these do last a great amount of time. I’ve personally noticed that the wax does not burn down as fast as my Bath & Body Works candles or my Yankee candles.

**Disclaimer: I do not get paid by any of these companies to do a haul or review, and if I do get sent things you guys will know that it was not purchased by me. All of my opinions and reviews are genuine.

Fall 2015 Trends!

With Fall rapidly approaching, many people are looking to transform their style for the new season. Every year new trends are rolled out by fashion's fall collections and sometimes it may be hard to keep up to date. Unlike many of our most recent years, this fall seems to be right on the nose with classic autumn looks. Many are not a surprise, but are old favorites we all know and love.

Makeup:

Graphic Liner
Personally, I think this is an all the time trend. Lucky for me, tons of designers have graphic liner looks within their collections. I prefer to stick to the classic cat eye, mainly because that's what looks the best with my eye shape but I'm loving the super heavy non traditional usage of liner.
Products I love that can be used to achieve this look:

Red Lips
The classic red lip is a piece almost every person wants in their makeup collection. This season, the "it" colors seem to be a magenta based red and an orange-red. Personally, I'm more of an orange-y red based girl, but if you're worried about making your teeth look whiter stick with the magenta based red. Reason being, they have a cool blue undertone to them which enhances the whiteness of your teeth.

<-Just an FYI; I've been obsessed with this MAC Vamplify Glossy Liquid Lipstick (seen on my latest instagram post)

Products I love that can be used to achieve this look: MAC D for Danger Lipstick, NYX Violet Ray Lipstick, Kat Von D Countess Studded Lipstick.

Blended Smokey Eyes
Most people think a smokey eye is black shadow everywhere (literally) but this is a common misconception. Smokey eyes are meant to be sultry and slightly vampish, not raccoon eyes. Using the right tools and blending color is the main key in keeping your smokey from looking scary. Blending the darkest color out with a warm brown or cranberry is my favorite way of wearing this look.

Naturally Flushed Cheeks
I LOVE that this is a fall trend this year. Usually we see a nice flushed cheek as a spring trend, but the industry decided to switch it up and add this into fall. If you’re apprehensive to try a color you’re not accustomed to, most stores like MAC or Sephora will try it on for you so that you can see if it goes with your coloring.
Products I love that can be used to achieve this look: Amazonian Clay ‘Tipsy’ Blush, Clinique Cheek Pop Blush ‘Berry Pop,’ NYX HD Blush “Tuscan,’ (these vary depending on skin tone and preference).

Barefaced Beauties
This is probably my favorite trend mainly because you get to see how truly incredible these makeup artists backstage are. Instead of using more coverage to conceal flaws, they use strategic placement and layering of thin, sheer makeup. It's about using products to make the skin look innocent. Their jobs are to make it seem as though these models rolled out of bed looking like a supple dewy skinned cherub, even though I'm sure half of them already do  *ahem ahem Gigi Hadid*.
Products I love that can be used to achieve this look: MAC Face + Body Foundation, Smashbox BB Water, Murad Complete Reform, Dior Glow Maximizer Primer.

Hair:

Brushed Through Loose Beach Waves
While we’ve seen tons of loose beach waves in style this past year, the locks this season are extremely brushed through and tousled. It seems almost more difficult to achieve this undone look rather than classic curls; but with the right products and a little bit of practice it’s much easier than one would think.
Products I love that can be used to achieve this look: Bumble and bumble Surf Spray, Oribe Après Beach Wave + Shine Spray, Nume 32MM Classic Wand (There are always tons of coupon codes for this as well so make sure you check their instagram before purchasing), Remington Pearl Pro Curling Wand.

Slicked
Whether it's slicked back into a low ponytail or straight back  like old Hollywood glam, this style is something that radiates. My favorite way to wear this look is slicked back like Gigi Hadid at the 2015 VMA’s. Unfortunately, this style does not complement every one so tread lightly my beauties. On a positive note, there are plenty of other ways you can incorporate this into your Fall hair style wardrobe. Easily toss your hair back into a classic low ponytail with your hair parted in the center or a high ponytail with it slicked completely back.
Products I love that can be used to achieve this look: Aveda Smooth Infusion, Nexxus Frizz Defy Hair Spray.

Bronde
This stunning combination of Blonde and Brunette is perfect for both flat blondes and brunettes who want a change up. "A happy medium of both blond and brown," which is how stylist Nikki Lee of Nine Zero One salon in Hollywood explains it (George, S. 7.17.15 Instyle). Blake Lively, Chrissy Teigen and Gisele Bündchen all famously rock tousled Bronde locks.
